About Us
Rescue Children is a 501(c)3
non-profit organization headquartered in Spartanburg, SC in the
 US and in
Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti. The
Rescue Children Orphanage, a project of Rescue Children, is currently
located in the Santo area of Haiti. There are currently 20
children at the orphanage which is expected to expand as funding grows.
Rescue Children was born following
my first visit to Haiti in 2003. I visited villages in Balan, Savane
Cabrit and L’Etant. What I saw
broke my heart so badly it literally ached. My life changed forever as I
confronted poverty at its worst: children sick and dying from disease, their
bellies swollen from malnutrition and parasites; many without clothes and shoes;
lack of safe drinking water, food, and medical aid; and beautiful but desperate
little faces that still haunt me. God spoke to my heart and gave me a vision to
help them. After many trips to Haiti and visits to the villages, the doors to Rescue Children
Orphanage opened in July 2005. We
currently provide a loving home for 17 beautiful children.
 Long-term plans include a main
complex with an orphanage, clinic, school, storage facilities, feeding
station, food distribution and warehouse center.
And to
meet the
growing need of building satellite feeding stations,
food distribution centers and wells in neighboring
villages.
Projects planned for Rescue
Children include a feeding station located in villages where children
will come to receive a nourishing meal each day.
In addition to feeding their little
bodies, we'll feed their hearts with love, encouragement and hope
through "street bible clubs."
Rescue Children will work to provide
schools and training for vocational opportunities for as many youth as
possible. Community development projects will also be implemented
to help the village
or area to function successfully and independently
of others.
The next step will be to educate
the Haitian community in personal hygiene, health concerns, birth
control, and in other areas which will promote a better quality of life,
even life itself, in the villages or towns where they reside.
